Auditors and Certification Bodies
Auditors and Certifications Bodies are important partners to the IRIS Management Centre ensuring the transparent and objective functioning of the scheme. All approved certification bodies have an accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021:2015 and are sanctioned by the IRIS Management Centre. Only IRIS-approved auditors who have participated in the IRIS training and have passed a written and oral examination can perform IRIS Certification audits. The auditors can only audit against their competence in a certain product category. Auditors who comply with these requirements can work for their IRIS-approved sponsor certification body.
On this page, you will find an evolution of IRIS-approved auditors and certification bodies per continent, country and scope. Additionally, you will find information on the number of witness auditors working within the IRIS Certification system.
Evolution of IRIS approved auditors
In the graph, there is information on the evolution of IRIS-approved auditors over the 15 years period. In recent years, IRIS Certification has seen a slight decrease of the number in the number of IRIS-approved auditors, remaining just under the targeted 300 approved auditors. The decrease comes from the paradigm shift in ISO 9001, development of the ISO/TS 22163 standard and the general decrease in the number of auditors.
